麻 can also be seen in the words 麻薬 [まやく], meaning anything from narcotics to “dope,” and  麻布, which can be read in different ways: あさぬの or まふ, meaning “hemp cloth” or “linen,” as well as あざぶ, which is the name of an area in Tokyo’s Minatoku.

酔 is commonly seen in the phrase 酔っ払い [よっぱらい], meaning “drunkard.”
